Closures of schools and public facilities have put financial and operational strains on the Denton community and North Texas as a whole. Below are organizations and fundraisers in need of donations and support.

Christian Community Action
Volunteers are needed for the following: Meal Delivery Teams of two (2), Food Packers [five (5) at a time] (social distancing in large room), and Drive-Thru Grocery Loaders [five (5) at a time] (social distancing indoor/outdoor). Please click the "Sign Up" link below for more information.
City of Denton
The City of Denton Fire Department and City of Denton Police Department are seeking donations of Personal Protective Equipment items such as facemasks, disposable gowns, and other equipment as part of an effort to compile needed supplies to combat the spread of COVID-19. Any citizen or business with new, unopened items for donation can call the Denton Fire Department directly at (940) 349-8833 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to coordinate a Fire Department representative to come and pick up.
Communities in Schools of North Texas
CISNT is in need of kid friendly meals and snack boxes, hygiene items, and school supplies. Donations can be dropped off Monday - Thursday between 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the CISNT Main Office at 217 S. Stemmons Fwy. Lewisville, Texas 75067. For questions, call (972)-538-9321.
Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA)
CASA is seeking additional volunteers to support children of Denton County. All recruiting and training will be virtual. For more information, please contact Beth Potter at email@example.com.
Denton Community Food Center
The Denton Community Food Center (DCFC) has as its mission to provide food from a central community storehouse to families in need and individuals struggling with hunger insecurity. DCFC will accept monetary and grocery donations, but because groceries will need to be quarantined up to seven days after being received, financial contributions are preferred. Denton County Friends of the Family (DCFOF)
Denton County Friends of the Family is looking for volunteers to assist their thrift store staff in picking up furniture donations from donors for their transitional housing clients moving into their new homes.

Denton County and United Way of Denton County
Denton County, in partnership with United Way of Denton and other partners, has created a volunteer sign-up for residents to help in the fight against COVID-19. Residents can share their skills or interest for specific volunteer opportunities to be matched with a need in the community.
First Refuge Ministries
First Refuge is in need of volunteers to help with with food distribution in Denton on Mondays 9:00am to 12:00pm, Wednesdays 1:00pm to 4:00pm and Thursdays 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Volunteers willing to help run errands for senior clients needing essential groceries and/or prescription medicines. Items would be dropped off at senior's doorstep.
Meals on Wheels of Denton County
Collecting hand sanitizer, latex gloves (for food delivery), pet food (Senior Paws Program). Donations can be dropped off M-F 9:00am to 5:00pm at1800 Malone Street in Denton. Also in need of volunteer support for meal delivery services to homebound seniors.
Additional volunteer support needed for the Food Pantry. Food Pantry hours are M-F 8:30am to 5:00pm and Saturday 9:00am to 1:00pm (subject to change). Note: please no food donations.

RISE: Reaching Individuals Through Service and Education
RISE is in need of attorneys who would be willing to volunteer their time pro bono to assist individuals with civil legal problems at a virtual legal clinic in mid-April. Areas of practice stemming from the current crisis related to housing, foreclosure, unemployment, domestic violence, debt collection/harassment, and other individual rights are extremely important during this time. The Salvation Army Denton Shelter

United Way of Denton County
United Way of Denton County, in partnership with their network of nonprofits, have created a COVID-19 Relief Fund to help neighbors experiencing income or job loss as a result of COVID-19 activity (event/project cancellations or delays, layoffs, etc.). Monetary donations are being accepted online.
